The first-ever junior camp, organized in cooperation by the Finnish Curling Association and Hyvinkää Curling ry, was held at the Hyvinkää Curling Hall from October 23rd to 25th. A wonderful total of 15 youth participated from Turku, Tampere, Joensuu, Lohja, Helsinki, and Hyvinkää. Among the participants learning curling skills were 11 boys and, delightfully, 4 girls, with the age range spanning from 11 to 19 years.

The camp program included a versatile variety of activities both on and off the ice. However, the core focus of the instruction was on the fundamentals of curling: delivery technique and a good sliding position, game practice, internal team communication on the ice, and, of course, the essence and unwritten rule of our beloved sport—the Spirit of Curling.

Tomi Rantamäki, Jaana Laurikka, Paavo Kuosmanen, and Bonnie Nilhamn-Kuosmanen served as the coaches for the camp.

A big thank you for the weekend to both the campers and everyone involved on the organizing side. Until next time!
