During his visit to Hyvinkää, Finland's Minister of Physical Education, Sport and Youth, Mika Poutala, also visited Hyvinkää's new curling hall.
Mika Poutala, a former top-level sprint speed skater who later transitioned into politics, along with Hyvinkää Mayor Johanna Luukkonen and Director of Education Mika Mäkelä, visited the Hyvinkää Lease Deal Group Arena to learn about the planning and implementation of the hall project, as well as the operations of the hall, which is now running at full capacity. The hosts for the visit were Paavo Kuosmanen representing Hyvinkää Curlinghalli Oy, and Kalle Kiiskinen and Teemu Salo representing Hyvinkää Curling ry.
The implementation method of the project—which also received state funding—and the role of Hyvinkää Curling ry in carrying it out were considered an inspiring example of a different way to execute sports facility construction. In a warm discussion session between the guests and curling club representatives, they reviewed curling as a sport from the perspectives of school sports, casual recreation, and competitive sports, among other topics.
Despite his tight schedule, Minister Poutala also managed to observe a school gym class playing curling with students from Tapainlinna School and chat with the pupils.
Thank you for the visit, and welcome back!
